C is heading to Utah this week to attend the Mormon History Association Conference. So, we decided to come up to my parents' place so that I could get some extra help with the kids. Okay, but really, any excuse we have to come up here we take. I thought we would be leaving all the nasty nasty bugs that come with the Virginia summer, but we have been happily greeted by thousands and thousands of cicadas that have made their home here. They are so gross. They are so loud, especially in the mornings. Even when sitting inside you can't escape their sounds. It sounds like a really obnoxious car alarm going off in the distance.

Anyway... these pictures were taken yesterday outsides of my parent's house. I love their yard and they have gorgeous flowers all around it. S loved exploring (she is my outdoors girl, after all) and didn't even mind walking around barefoot. I just had to keep a close eye on her to make sure she didn't step on any cicadas.

Ita and her Pato.
Love you,  Mami!

Your mother is so beautiful! I didn't realize that was her with Joaquin in the photos--I assumed it was you! (I imagine you guys must get that a lot, but I couldn't help remarking!)

Yes. We get that a LOT. All the time. People always assume we're sisters. I can only hope I age as well as her!
